How to apply as a student or a former student

Would you like to change or return to a master's degree programme?

If you are enrolled or have been enrolled in a master's degree programme, you must find out whether you must apply for admission, re-admission, re-enrolment, transfer or change of programme.

Re-enrolment

Application deadline

You can apply for re-enrolment throughout the year. If you want to make sure that your application is processed before a certain semester, block, or course starts, we recommend that you apply within the standard application deadlines on

  • 1 March at 23:59 (study start in September)
  • 15 October at 23:59 (study start in February).

Additional deadlines for programmes with block structure:

  • 1 September at 23:59 (for block 2)
  • 1 February at 23:59 (for blocks 4 and 5)

If you apply after these deadlines, we will process your application as quickly as possible. However, we cannot guarantee a specific processing time.

If we are unable to process your application in time, before the study start you applied for, you will be notified in the Application Portal.

You may apply for re-enrolment if you:

  • are not currently enrolled in the programme in which you wish to re-enroll and
  • have previously passed courses corresponding to the first year of study (see the most recent curriculum) of the programme to which you are applying.

You will be re-enrolled under the most recent curriculum. However, it is possible that some of your previously passed examinations cannot be transferred to your new enrolment.

Your previous examination attempts and study activity requirements will be transferred to your new enrolment.

You may apply for re-enrolment if:

  • you were enrolled as a full-time student in the same programme at UCPH, or you were enrolled in a related programme at another Danish university, and
  • you have passed courses equivalent to the first year of study of the programme to which you are applying (see the most recent curriculum).
  • you fulfill the admission requirements for the programme, including any academic academic requirements and language requirements.
  • at least five months have passed since you were disenrolled from the programme.

You can only be offered re-enrollment if there are available places on the relevant semester of the degree programme.

If, during your previous enrolment, you were disenrolled from the university, or were close to being disenrolled*, you must also provide documentation demonstrating that your prospects of successfully completing the programme have significantly improved.

Read more about documentation in the section below.

* This applies where the conditions for disenrollment were present — for example, if you withdrew shortly before reaching the maximum period of study (i.e. less than one semester remaining), or if you did not pass the first-year exam.

You must upload the following documents with your application:

  • An official transcript of records from your previous Master’s degree programme
  • The curriculum for your previous programme
  • Documentation demonstrating that you fulfill the admission requirements for the master’s programme to which you are applying, including:
    • documentation of your qualifying bachelor’s degree and
    • documentation that you meet the language requirements
  • You may find the specific admission requirements listed under the specific programme
  • Certificate(s) for any other completed degree(s) at the same level
  • Documentation of any passed course elements from a previously incomplete degree programme at the same level

Have you been disenrolled from the university?

If, during your previous enrolment, you were disenrolled from the university, or were close to being disenrolled*, you must upload additional documentation with your application. This enables us to assess whether your ability to complete the programme has significantly improved.

* This applies where the conditions for disenrolment were present — for example, if you withdrew shortly before reaching the maximum period of study (i.e. less than one semester remaining), or if you did not pass the first-year exam.

1. You must upload a brief personal statement explaining:

  • why you were disenrolled from the programme and
  • how your ability to complete the programme has significantly improved.

2. You must upload documentation supporting the circumstances described in your statement. This may include, for example:

  • A doctor's certificate or statement from a certified psychologist or psychiatrist in cases involving health-related circumstances.
    • The document must include a professional assessment of your current health situation and whether you are able to study again.
    • If the circumstances are the same, the medical certificate must include a prognosis indicating the duration.
    • You may also submit a copy of relevant medical records if these document the above circumstances.
  • Certificates for examinations, courses or degree programmes you have passed after you were disenrolled from the programme.
  • Documentation of relevant professional experience gained after you were disenrolled from the programme, such as an employment contract, payslips, or a statement from your employer specifying your monthly working hours and job responsibilities.

If you are unsure which documentation to upload in support of your statement, please upload the documentation you have available. If any documentation is missing from your application, we will send a reminder in the application portal.

  1. Log in with MitID, WAYF or register as a user in the application portal.
  2. Fill in your application
  3. Transfer data from your previous programme by using the data transfer feature. If you do not want to transfer data, or if it is not possible, you need to manually upload the documentation later in the application process.
  4. Send your application.
