PhD programme

To become a PhD student at PLEN, you must apply for a PhD scholarship. Currently 180 PhD student are enrolled at the department. They are integrated in the research groups within the sections and centres of the department.

The PhD study at SCIENCE consists of a number of central elements:

  • A research project under supervision
  • Course work
  • Participation in science communication, e.g. teaching
  • A change of scientific environment, preferably a stay abroad
  • Writing and publicly defending your PhD thesis before a panel of experts
