Nielsen Group
The Nielsen Group develops methods for complex organic synthesis in water, combining organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, computational methods and programming.

Research focus
he group develops methods for complex organic synthesis in water.
The research focuses on three main areas:
- Artificial enzymes
Synthesis and study of artificial enzymes using molecularly imprinted nanoparticles. - Prebiotic chemistry in water microdroplets
Studies of prebiotically relevant reactions in water microdroplets that may have impacted the origins of life on Earth. - Machine learning and robotic platforms
Use of machine learning and automated robotic platforms to optimise chemical reactions in water with a Bayesian algorithm.
The research integrates organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, computational methods and programming skills.
