The logo is the most important identity-bearing element of UCPH’s visual identity. It strengthens recognition and clearly identifies UCPH across departments, units and channels.

This page provides guidelines for the use of UCPH’s logo. It is available in several versions, adapted to different media and contexts. The logo may only be used in accordance with the guidelines in the design guide.

The logo is protected by a European trademark registration and may only be used with permission from the University of Copenhagen.

Digital logo

UCPH’s digital logo consists of the UCPH seal and a wordmark to the right.

The digital logo was developed as part of the redesign of ku.dk and is a simplified version of UCPH’s classic logo. It is used primarily on ku.dk.

On the university's website, the site title or unit name appears below the UCPH logo in EB Garamond.

The digital logo can be used as a profile image on social media and apps, but in a version without the wordmark. This simplified logo configuration is suitable for small and circular profile images.

Print logo

The classic UCPH logo with three circles and a horizontal logo line is used primarily for printed materials and signage.

The logo consists of the UCPH seal positioned in the largest circle, surrounded by two additional circles and a horizontal logo line. The university name and unit name are set in Adobe Garamond, with the unit name positioned below the university name.

Logo configurations for print – university, faculty and department

The logotype is always positioned in the top-left corner, while the logo symbol is placed on the right-hand side.

As a general rule, the logo symbol is positioned in the top-right corner, as defined in most of the design guide’s publication cover templates. In some cases, the logo symbol and the logo line, to which the lower circle of the logo symbol is attached, may be moved further down the format as a single unit.

The logo line may be replaced by the top edge of an image, provided that the image extends from edge to edge and that its upper edge is visually strong and clearly defined, particularly in the area where the lower logo circle is anchored.

Local identity for UCPH units

UCPH units can express their distinctive identity through visual elements in both digital and printed materials. This can include different combinations of photography and graphic elements that help convey the unit’s identity and communicate its content, as long as they do not in any way appear as a logo, but instead function as a supplement to the UCPH logo.

UCPH guidelines for unit logos

In 2019, University Management decided that “all research centres, research groups, projects and museums must use UCPH’s logo” with effect from 1 January 2020.
