Spectroscopic Platform

The food spectroscopic platform includes a wide range of advanced instruments, such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Near-Infrared (NIR), Raman, Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis), and Low-Field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers.

Description

The food spectroscopic platform instruments allow for detailed analysis and characterization of food and related samples, supporting both qualitative and quantitative studies across various applications.

FT-IR VERTEX 70 with MultiRAM FT-Raman Module

The FT-IR VERTEX 70 is a Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer designed for accurate measurements in the range of 4000–30 cm⁻¹ with a high resolution of 0.5 cm⁻¹. It is a versatile instrument capable of analyzing a wide variety of food samples, including solids, liquids, and semi-liquids, making it ideal for applications in food science and technology.

It offers multiple measurement options, including:

  • Transmission mode
  • Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) using the single-reflection diamond accessory Bruker Platinum, ideal for quick and non-destructive analysis.
  • Measurements samples in gas phase

The Multi-RAM module is a Raman spectrometer based on Fourier Transform technology. It features an Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) and two advanced detectors: a high-sensitivity germanium detector and an InGaAs detector for extended spectral range capabilities. A computer-controlled sample stage allows for easy sample positioning. This module enables measurements in the spectral range of 3600–50 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 0.5 cm⁻¹, ensuring precise and reliable results.

MQR-Spectra P LF-NMR

The MQR is a high-performance TD-NMR system designed for applications based on relaxation and/or diffusion measurements. The system includes a high-performance digital spectrometer, a 20 MHz (0.47T) permanent magnet, and 18 mm probes. It offers measurements in the temperature range of -20°C to 150°C.

It provides multiple measurement options, including:

  • FID and CPMG
  • Solid fat content (SFC%)
  • Droplet size distribution (DSD)
  • Diffusion measurements
  • Solid echo
  • 2D measurements
  • Kinetics

Options and requirements for use

Raman Kaiser with PhAT probe 785 nm

  • The sample amount depends on the sample type and the spectroscopic technique used.
  • Measurements are recorded by a superuser of the spectroscopic platform.
  • Independent operation is possible, but training is required.
  • Interpretation and analysis of results are not included in the fee.

When initiating a research collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, a cooperation agreement must be established. Different types of agreements are available depending on the nature of the collaboration.
