The Papyrus Carlsberg Collection
The collection consists of fragments of ancient Egyptian manuscripts.
Research at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies (ToRS) spans languages, religions, historical periods, and geographic regions. The department’s three research collections support this research and contain materials from various times and places—ranging from ancient papyrus fragments and Indian manuscripts to documentation of the work of explorers.
The collections are used in both research and teaching at the department and, at the same time, contribute to the preservation and dissemination of cultural history.
