Over 500 years of tradition

The University of Copenhagen is the oldest University in Denmark – founded in 1479. The University has 4 campus areas in Copenhagen.

The University’s first main building was originally built after the reformation in 1536, but burned down during the Copenhagen fire in 1728. It was reconstructed – however during the British bombing in 1807 it burned down again. The existing main building was built in 1829-36.
