SYLFF 20th anniversary conference
The University of Copenhagen is proud to host the SYLFF
conference from 16 to 19 January. The Sasakawa Young Leaders
Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) has spent millions of dollars over
the past 20 years to promote student exchange between the 69
universities included in the Sasakawa network (which also
count the University of Copenhagen).
The conference will open 16 January in the University’s
Ceremonial Hall with speeches from Yohei Sasakawa, Rector
Ralf Hemmingsen, Minister of Education Bertel Haarder and
more.
The goal of the SYLFF Programme is to nurture future
leaders who will transcend the geopolitical, religious,
ethnic, and cultural boundaries and actively participate in
the world community for peace and the well-being of
humankind. Under the SYLFF Program, The Nippon Foundation
donates an endowment of 1 million US dollars to each of the
institutions of higher learning, from which fellowships are
awarded to graduate students enrolled in social sciences and
humanities fields at the respective endowed institutions.
The University of Copenhagen received its endowment in
1991, and has since sent well over a hundred students abroad
with a Sasakawa scholarship. The students fortunate enough
to receive a Sasakawa scholarship will become Sasakawa
Fellows and be a part of the international Sasakawa network.
The conference is open for invitees only.
