Obesity journal with record-high impact factor
The scientific journal Obesity Reviews is now the highest
ranked scientific journal in the world within the field of
nutritional science and obesity research. Editor-in-chief of
the successful scientific journal is Professor Arne Astrup.
Arne Astrup is one of the world’s leading scientists
within the field of food and health. In addition to being a
professor at the
Faculty
of Life Sciences, he is also the editor-in-chief of the scientific
journal Obesity Reviews which has attained a record-high
Impact Factor. Impact Factors, which are calculated by
Thomson ISI, is a metric that reflects the frequency that
peer-reviewed journals are cited by researchers. Obesity
Reviews has attained a world record within its academic
field with an Impact Factor of 7.8. For comparison, the
Impact Factor of the famous American nutritional journal
‘American Journal of Clinical Nutrition’ is 6.6 and that of
most other journals within this academic field lies between
1 and 4:
- From the beginning, it has been the strategy of the
journal to secure a high academic level by involving the
best and strongest research environments around the world.
In this connection, the Faculty of Life Sciences is one of
the important contributors submitting new research results
within food and health, says Arne Astrup, who has been the
editor-in-chief of the journal since its start in 2000.
Increase in submissions
-We expect the huge international
success of the journal to lead to even more scientists
submitting their articles for publication in the journal,
especially because the Impact Factor of the scientists’
articles will form part of most universities’ assessment of
the qualify of the research, continues Arne Astrup.
Obesity Reviews is an official review journal of the
International Association for the Study of Obesity, which
has over 9,000 members, in more than 50 countries, with a
rapidly increasing membership status.
The publishers, Wiley-Blackwell in Oxford, UK, praise the
work of the editorial team in this important field of public
health:
- Obesity Review's impressive achievement is
evidence of the journal's commitment to providing high
impact, good quality research to the medical community in an
area of huge and growing importance to public health and the
practice of medicine. We have thoroughly enjoyed our
partnership with the International Association for the Study
of Obesity, the Editor, Professor Arne Astrup, and the
Editorial team to make Obesity Reviews such an instant
success", says Dr Andrew Robinson, Managing Director,
Medicine, Wiley-Blackwell.
