Students make project to build sustainable cities in China
Posted 8 April 2008
Students from the
Department of Economics
won the
The Grundfos Challenge – a competition arranged by the
Danish company
Grundfos.
The headline of
The Grundfos Challenge 2008 was: How can Grundfos
contribute to a sustainable development in the fast growing
BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, Chia)?
Students Marie Skjold-Jørgensen, Sune Suhr Frandsen and
Lars-Morten Andersen chose to focus on building sustainable
cities in China. Within the competition week the three
students came up with the concept of GreenTech Cities. The
cities are CO2 neutral and water resources are recycled.
The students received a prize of DKK 75.000. On top of
that, the educational institutions behind the students
receive a statuette and the possibility to hand out a
Grundfos donation of DKK 50.000.
- It is wonderful to see how our students are able to
translate the knowledge they get from their studies to
actual projects that can be used in the business world, says
Head of Studies at the Department of Economics Peter Erling.
In the recent years, the department has made a great
effort to develop training in entrepreneurship as part of
the students’ education.
