New language centre to further internationalisation
Posted on 20 December 2007
University of Copenhagen aims to attract more
international researchers and students. To further that goal,
the Board of University has decided to set up a new Language
Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language
Competencies (CIP) at the Faculty of Humanities in August
2008.
CIP is a collaboration between Department of English,
Germanic and Romance Studies and Department of Scandinavian
Studies and Linguistics. The Centre’s first task will be to
map the need for upgrading the lecturers’ language skills
and then develop further education for Danish lecturers that
teach in English, and for foreign lecturers that teach in
Danish.
- CIP is to make it feasible for the University of
Copenhagen to become an international university without
losing touch with the Danish community, which continually
will benefit from the University’s education and research,
says Professor Peter Harder from Department of English,
Germanic and Romance Studies.
In time, the Centre will also provide services for the
administrative staff and PhD-students so that all employees
can contribute to the University’s growth in the increasing
international competition. The Board The new Board of Centre
consists of the following members:
- Head of Department Jens Erik Mogensen, Department of
English, Germanic and Romance Studies (Chair)
- Dean Kirsten Refsing, Faculty of Humanities
- Head of International Office, John E. Andersen
- Director of HRM Niels Wendelboe

English, Germanic and Romance Studies
